About the Tour of Winston-Salem
The Tour of Winston-Salem is a challenging recreational cycling event, run as a Gran Fondo (timed event with age-group awards) and held on a professional-quality racecourse. The 118 kilometer / 74-mile ride is part of the UCI World Cycling Tour, a global series of 15 Gran Fondo rides that serve as qualifying events for the UCI Master World Championships, to be held in Slovenia August 29-31, 2014. Riders who place in the top 25% of their respective age groups automatically receive their “ticket” to the Worlds. The event is open to riders of every nationality.
There is no right or wrong way to ride this event. With the controlled road conditions, riders can choose to ride flat out for a World Championship berth, or simply roll along at their leisure, enjoying the beauty of the Winston-Salem region.
